WordMatters. Words Matter.

Your Memoir

You have a story that deserves to be told.

A life lived, a family history worth preserving, an experience that others need to hear. You know what you want to say.

But you:

  • Don't know how to say it

  • Just don't have the time

  • Can't face the blank page.

I'll listen. I'll ask the right questions. And I'll write it in a voice that sounds exactly like you, on the page.

Your Business

You're good at what you do. But you don't have the time, or the confidence, or the inclination to write about it.

Whether you need a book that establishes your authority, articles that build your profile, a speech that holds people's attention, or a LinkedIn presence that actually sounds like a human being wrote it, I can help.

I write under your name, to your brief, and you own everything.

And all is written by me, a human, for you, in your voice. I never, ever, use AI to write.

How It Works

We talk. Every project starts with a conversation. We have a free 30-minute call, no obligation, no pitch. I want to understand your story, your goals, and what you need from me. If we're a good fit, we'll take it from there.

I write. Once we've agreed the scope, the timeline and the fee, I get to work. For memoir clients, that means interviews, deep listening and careful shaping of your material. For business clients, it means getting under the skin of what you do and writing it in a voice that is unmistakably yours.

You own it. Everything I write for you is yours, completely and permanently. Your name goes on it. I stay behind the scenes.

Testimonials

‘I am endlessly grateful to my friend, editor, proofreader, and brainstorming partner, Niamh. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and her ability to hold both the detail and the big picture at once never ceases to amaze me. This book would not exist in the form it does without her. I cannot wait to read her own book when it comes out in the near future. And I am still quietly (and not so quietly) hoping to convince her to get on the mat every day. That, too, is an ongoing project of mine.’

"I had the pleasure of working with Niamh on the An Post Writing Competition and I couldn’t be more impressed with their performance and professionalism throughout the entire process.

From the very beginning, Niamh quickly got to grips with the project and demonstrated a clear understanding of the scope, goals, and contributed valuable ideas that improved  the quality of the project outcome for An Post and the experience of participants.

One of Niamh’s strongest qualities is their reliability, every deadline was met. Communication was another standout strength. Niamh was always proactive in providing updates, asking the right questions, and keeping everyone informed. This made collaboration smooth and built a strong sense of trust with the team.

Equally important, Niamh was just a pleasure to work with. They approached everything with a positive, solution-focused attitude, nothing was ever an issue.

Overall, I would highly recommend Niamh for any future projects or roles. They are an exceptional professional who delivers results and makes the process enjoyable for everyone involved. I would gladly work with Niamh again."

"I first met Niamh Cooper at a writing seminar some years ago. Having taught creative writing for over twenty years, I had met numerous aspirants, most of whom dreamed of being writers without any idea of what was involved in turning the dream to reality.

There were others too – students who wished to write and to learn and hone their craft. They were determined to be writers and did know that what was involved was long hours practising their craft, perseverance and the ability to overcome the disappointments and setbacks, which are the lot of the aspiring writer. Among this group was Niamh.

She already had a distinctive voice, a flair for language and was ready to work hard at her craft. So it was no surprise when I learned that she had persevered and was having some success. It was when I read an extract from a work in progress, THE HELL RUN, (short-listed for the Fish Memoir Prize) that I realised that those hours of practice had paid off.

The extract is most assured, and shows the writer in total control of language and tone. Niamh has captured the child’s voice perfectly, yet the narrative is sufficiently gripping to maintain an adult’s interest. Tension builds up and holds until the moment of release. Foreshadowing is also used to good effect in creating suspense for the reader, while at the same time surprising him, as sometimes the narrative follows a different course to what he might have expected.

There is authorial authority too with specific details giving local colour (this is especially so in the African sections) while creating a sense of time and place. These specific details give the reader confidence in the author; he is instinctively aware that he is in the hands of an author who knows intimately the world she is writing about.

I’m looking forward to reading the complete book when it is published and have no doubt that it will be the first of many books from the pen of Niamh Cooper."

A note from Niamh

I grew up believing that everyone has a story worth telling. But along the way, many of us have lost our voice. What I bring to the table is knowing how to draw out a story, shape it, and get it on the page in a way that does it - and you - justice.

I'm based in West Cork and I work with clients locally, nationally and internationally, mostly over the phone or on video chat, whichever works best for you.

I'm discreet, I treat everyone's story in the strictest confidence, and realise that much of what we discuss may never see the light of day. I'm thorough, and I take your words seriously.

If you've been thinking about telling your story for a while, it's time we talked.
